Tehnopol Association of Galati is part of the consortium that implements the project “Waste Free Rivers for a Clean Black Sea” MWM-GMR, BSB457.
The project is co-financed by Black Sea Basin ENI Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020.

The purpose of the project:

Project aims at facilitating the enhancement of the quality of the environment and contributes to reducing river and marine litter in the Black Sea Basin countries through the promotion of cross-border cooperation between Georgia, Moldova and Romania for introduction of modern waste management practices and increasing environmental awareness.

Main outputs:

  • Realization of municipal biodegradable waste composting in Kutaisi (Georgia) and selected communities along rivers of Rioni (Georgia) and Prut (Moldova).
  • Municipal biodegradable waste management strategy and action plan for Kutaisi (Georgia).
  • Collection and recycling systems for municipal solid waste in selected cities of Georgia and Moldova.
  • Construction of the green waste composting plant in Kutaisi (Georgia).
  • Improving the knowledge of the SMEs representatives in Georgia and Moldova about modern trends and technologies in waste recycling sector in the EU countries.
  • Realization of an information campaign about general environmental issues, river and marine litter problems, modern Waste Management in selected cities of Georgia, Moldova and Romania.
  • Realization of an environmental educational program regarding rivers and sea protection and modern waste management for target groups in Georgia, Moldova and Romania.
  • Ensuring the public involvement in pilot cities in Clean-up events and celebrating events of the International and Local Environmental Days.
  • Developing art activities regarding protection of the purity of rivers and Black Sea and promotion of 3R waste principles by using art capacity.
  • Developing international and national capacity and fostering partnership between the Local Authorities, NGOs and private sector regarding rivers and Black Sea protection from pollution and introducing practice of the 3R-based waste management in Georgia, Moldova and Romania.
